Deli-Lites Ireland needed a cost-effective fleet…Masternaut delivered a solution that helped make a 10% saving on fuel costs.
Deli-Lites Ireland is a leading gourmet sandwich company supplying sandwiches, wraps and salads into many of Ireland’s top convenience stores, hospitals, cafés and corporate catering companies. An established reputable Irish gourmet sandwich company, Deli-Lites has over 16 years experience in both retail and café sectors.
Challenge
Operating a 20 strong fleet in Ireland, Deli-Lites needed a solution that could effectively monitor the location of its entire fleet and distribute workloads in order to create a cost-efficient and productive workforce. In addition, Deli-Lites required a solution that would enable it to monitor the temperature of its vans, to ensure it keeps in line with contractual obligations when transferring produce at certain temperatures.
Solution
After a thorough consultation with Deli-Lites, Masternaut offered the organisation a powerful fleet management solution delivering real-time updates on vehicle location, temperature and usage.
By utilising the vehicle tracking system, Masternaut’s consultant clearly demonstrated how at-a-glance visibility of vehicle whereabouts at any given time (and at any point in the country) could instantly minimise coordination challenges.
This visibility means that Deli-Lites fleet manager has access to real time van movement, giving it the ability to manage remote staff in Dublin/Cork. This level of visibility helped to set transport key performance indicators and measure departure and arrival times, key service levels for some customers.
Outcome
Since implementing the solution Deli-Lites Ireland has seen widespread benefits across the business.
From a fleet perspective, Masternaut’s solution has given fleet managers in-depth visibility of performance in terms of fuel used; route mapping and the run times that drivers complete their deliveries. Also trackable are departure times versus expected departure times and MPG’s by driver. Since implementation, Deli-Lites Ireland has made a 10% saving on fuel costs.
The HR division has also seen a number of benefits, giving a great level of access to the working times of remotely based staff; ensuring operational efficiencies can be implemented country wide. The HR team is also putting in place a driver training plan to further improve driver performance and fuel economy.
Deli-Lites is able to accurately and remotely monitor the temperature of all vans in their fleet. As it has obligations with some contracts to track temperatures, this is an incredibly important aspect to the products it supplies to customers. Since implementation, Deli-Lites has managed to increase delivery performance by 14%, as a result of being able to track vehicle whereabouts and monitor delivery times more accurately.
The KPI implementation is still at a relatively early stage and further results and impacts are expected to filter through at a later date.
