Bott Ltd is a world-leading manufacturer and supplier of workshop equipment, in-vehicle equipment and workplace systems. Bott employs 300 people in the UK, also operating production facilities in Germany and Hungary alongside a network of licensed partners and importers across the globe. In the UK, Bott has manufacturing bases in Cornwall, Leicestershire and Cumbernauld, each operating a network of commercial, HGV and service vehicles.
The Challenge
Upholding a strong reputation not only for product quality and value for money, but also for service excellence and rapid response, Bott was keen to find a way to further improve the efficiency of its fleet, in order to reduce customer response times.
With regional locations at both ends of theUK, Bott’s drivers travel extensive distances. The company was looking for a way to cut down on fuel consumption and reach its customers in record time.
Bott was also looking for a solution that could support its green policy, ensuring its manufacturing operations limit impact on the environment to the greatest possible extent.
The Solution
Having approached a number of telematics providers, Bott entered an in-depth consultation process with Masternaut. “Masternaut immediately stood out for us as a provider with both a large European footprint and, equally, a great deal of local knowledge and attention to detail” said Bott’s Logistics Manager, Chris Sweeney. “Masternaut’s expert team took time to really get to know the exact requirement of our business, in order to come up with a tailored solution to fit our needs.”
Masternaut’s hardware was installed across Bott’s fleet of vehicles, including trucks, light commercial vehicles and enhanced customer demonstration vans. In addition to using the technology in its own fleet, Bott also partnered with Masternaut in order to resell the telematics systems as parts of the van conversions arm of the business.
The Results
Since bringing on Masternaut technology, Bott has saved 15% a month on fuel costs within its fleet of company cars and vans, as well as recording a notable improvement in the driving of its employees across the business.
The efficiency of the fleet – within every arm of the business – has significantly improved, leading to a reduction in fuel consumption and therefore costs, as well as reduced emissions.
Via the at-a-glance view of every vehicle within Bott’s fleet, managers are able to pin-point the exact location and speed of any of their drivers at any given time. The company has also been able to reduce the unnecessary time its vehicles spend on the road, while better managing customer expectations around delivery times by sharing this insight.
With Bott’s articulated lorries making multiple deliveries across the UK every day, fleet managers at company headquarters are able to act instantly in the event of road delays or incoming customer requests.
