Gunnebo
Gunnebo required secure and trusted data for critical jobs...Masternaut provides the real-time insight to ensure customers are in safe hands.
Gunnebo is a global provider of security solutions and services.
The Challenge
Gunnebo is one of the largest Physical Security companies in the world, employing over 5900 people and with an annual turnover of over 640m euros. Now the largest manufacturer of secure storage products in the world, Gunnebo’s extremely comprehensive portfolio of physical security equipment is all preventatively and reactively serviced and maintained by a highly skilled, mobile workforce.
These engineers are on call 24/7, and drive a fleet of response vehicles that are equipped with the facilities to get businesses up and running in the shortest time possible. The company wanted to be able to track and record the vehicle locations in real-time. This would give them the ability to react even faster to incident calls or regular maintenance appointments, and achieve cost efficiencies in scheduling.
The Solution
Gunnebo put out a tender for a vehicle tracking solution. Each provider invited to pitch was attributed scorecard rankings against a number of criteria, related to functionality. These include reporting, speed of feedback, live traffic updates and the ability to see a satellite aerial view. Value for money was also an important consideration.
“Masternaut came out on top. Its products allow for far greater flexibility within the system and more accurate tracking. In the end, there was a clear winner,” said Anthony Wortley, Service and Logistics Manager at Gunnebo.
Masternaut’s hardware was installed across Gunnebo’s fleet of vehicles. The systems allow teams across the business to monitor vehicle locations, and crucially notify customers of more precise arrival times. Processing live traffic updates, the system is able to give Gunnebo customer service teams the accuracy of information they require to respond to often critical security system maintenance call outs.
“Imagine that the entrance to a bank or supermarket has been compromised. Until the issue is resolved and the security systems are back online, the business can’t trade. In this way, the response times of our staff are critical to keep our customers open for business,” continued Wortley.
Since beginning work with Masternaut three years ago, Gunnebo has trebled in size and, as a result, the size of the fleet has doubled.
“Scheduling efficiencies are an absolute priority. We need a view onto the workforce at all times in order to provide the quality of service we promise our customers. ”
Gunnebo has recently been awarded ISO 14001 certification. With this in mind, the company is reviewing ways that the system may be used to advance Gunnebo’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
Results
Gunnebo has recognised a significant improvement in the number of jobs completed per engineer per day. This is due to improvements in scheduling – finding the nearest qualified engineer for the job. Highly critical jobs are given a 2-4 hr response rate. Within this bracket, times have reduced substantially.
Customer communications and satisfaction have also improved, as all departments across the business now have access to real-time data.
Gunnebo has been impressed by the support and responsiveness of the Masternaut team – working with Gunnebo to find creative ways to help solve business problems.
“Masternaut has given us a view onto our business, in such a way that we are able to use the data to support many aspects of our business. From improved scheduling to fuel reduction, from better business communications to improved customer satisfaction. We would like to go even further, and explore more advanced uses for the system.”
